AMENDMENT No. 1 PROPOSED TO

Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
SECTION 1. Section 49-15-19, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
49-15-19. The Attorney General shall be counsel and attorney for the commission and department and shall provide legal services as may be requested. The executive director is authorized to employ legal counsel, after consultation with the Attorney General, as may be necessary or appropriate for the operation of the department.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1999, and shall be repealed from and after July 1, 2000.
Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 49-15-19, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO AUTHORIZE THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MARINE RESOURCES TO EMPLOY LEGAL COUNSEL; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
